Rust & Found

Every lakebed keeps a story.

You throw a magnet into dark water and pull up what the town forgot. Five places, five people, five things worth finding again.

Rust & Found key art: a rusted brass dinner bell lifted from teal water by a salvage magnet against an orange sunset.

01 What it is

You can't see what you've caught until it surfaces.

Most games tell you what you've found the instant you find it. This one doesn't. Underwater there is no name, no icon, no silhouette, no weight in kilograms — only what a person on a dock would actually feel through a rope. Resistance. Strain. A line that suddenly goes slack.

So you learn to read it. Heavy and stubborn might be the thing you've been looking for all chapter, or it might be a bicycle frame. A find too heavy for your magnet stays down there as an anonymous marker on the water, waiting for you to come back with better gear. It is still anonymous when you do.

Then it breaks the surface, your fisher walks it back up the dock, and you finally see what you've been fighting with.

02 The loop

01

Cast

Tap the water. The fisher turns, plants his feet and throws. The magnet splashes, sinks, and settles on the bed wherever you put it.

02

Time the pull

A marker sweeps a timing band. Tap as it crosses and the haul stays smooth; miss and strain spikes. Perfect, Good, Early, Late — the rope keeps score.

03

Don't break the line

Too much strain and the rope snaps, or the magnet lets go and your find sinks back into the dark. Both cost you the cast. Neither tells you what you lost.

04

Sell, upgrade, return

Ordinary scrap pays for stronger magnets and better rope. Four of each. The thing you actually came for is heavy enough to need them.

03 Five waterlines

Each place has one person and one thing they lost.

Bring it up and the next place opens. Nothing ever closes behind you — go back any time to finish a collection or wrestle with something you weren't strong enough for the first time.
